Moments during Partner Ice Dance

Feels like a need to post about some of the partner ice dance sessions recently. So why do I put Partner Ice Dance in a Tantra framework? A few moments might provide some insight.

Forward Outside swingroll. Usually to the right. I call it a right outside swingroll because we are turning to the right. We are also on the right skate. But it is the left leg that is “swinging”. If I was a better skater, then I should know the proper term. Where I am now, it is more important for me to know which direction I should be heading on the ice. I struggle in getting close enough but not too close with my partner. Not close enough and we are on significantly different curve radius, which makes tracking harder. Too close and skates get kicked and unpleasant things happen. When the posture hits the “sweet spot”, it goes from two people skating to one flowing energy. It doesn’t last long, but it is significant. And it is sufficient to know that there is more than just a physical connection.

There are other moments that I thought would be good examples, but it doesn’t feel like they are to be shared at this time. Perhaps soon.

I looked for a picture on the internet of a forward outside swingroll with a partner, but nothing presented itself easily. Usually, that is a signal that it should not be pursued. Maybe we can get a picture at the next skate session.
